With the Christmas season coming, trees start to fill your houses with their festive scents and lights, but you also start to wonder… how am I going to take care of this tree? Do not complicate your life because now ELM will give you some simple tips to make this job easier
When you buy a fresh-cut Christmas tree or a live tree they tend to retain their needles, color, and fragrance; but having it requires additional care. As soon as you get your tree it should be put in water. You should remember a cut tree can consume as much as a gallon of water per day. Sometimes adding aspirin or sugar to the water helps to keep it fresh. It is also important to keep in mind that your stand has enough depth in order to have the base of the trunk submerged in water at all times. As a common rule, stands should provide 1 quart of water per inch of stem. Keep trees away from heat sources, and if possible, lower the room temperature to help slow down the drying process. When choosing lights for the tree, use ones which produce low heat such as miniature lights. Remember to recycle your tree after the Christmas season ends and help us create a more sustainable environment!
